1. Little Cheap Laptops

If you’re thinking of acquiring one of those ultra portable laptops (actually subnotebooks technically I guess) (Asus Eee is the iconic one everybody thinks of), you just might want to hold off until after June, when a slew of them are due to be released, about the same time as Intel releases its new Atom chip, I hear. Just saying. I’ve been tracking gadget sites and electronics bigbox sites to stay tuned in, and it’s getting hard to keep up with all the companies that are intent on becoming players in this new game.
  2. It scans for new blog entries and news posts on websites you’re subscribed to (subscribing is very simple to do with the Reader). I don’t get disappointed visiting an unupdated blog anymore because I just don’t visit unless Google Reader alerts me about an update. And it’s great way to keep track of your favorite online magazines and newspapers. The problem is that it creates an efficient method of tracking which in turn tempts me to add more and more subscriptions and track more sites, which leads to lots time spent reading new entries.

And if I come upon a site that piques my interest I can subscribe for awhile and see if it sustains that interest. If not, unsubscribing is easy.

  8. Bruce Sterling on Vimeo (via Vimeo)

Presentation at the conference »Innovationsforum Interaktionsdesign« in Potsdam, Germany. The talk was held on 31. March 2007.

Sterling is one of my favorite s.f. authors. Lately he’s been writing and talking about design and the future. Great stuff!

If you enjoy listening to Sterling, check out this hour-long mp3 “rant” given at SXSW last year
