Last night Mrs. Random and I listening to the wonderfully awesome Elton John double album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road while making and eating dinner. All my Elton love came rushing back. Well, it never went away. I just don’t listen to EJ that much anymore. But when I came across the album at the ARRRRRR! store, I couldn’t help but help myself. Heh. Fuckin’ kickass musical experience. We were talking about the lyrics, and Mrs. R reminded me that Bernie Taupin wrote most of them.
When I was a freshman in HS, a friend and I started a little company reselling our Columbia House record club records for profit (you know, get 12 records for a penny! you could do that several times before they caught on). We called our business Captain Fantastic Enterprises. In the wiki article on BT, I learned that he always wanted to be a “brown dirt cowboy”… and that he co-owned a world champ PBR bucking bull named Little Yellow Jacket. Now don’t you feel edified?

Strange combination?
I just snacked on tamari-sesame brown rice crackers with a mediterranean olive spread. They didn’t really meld flavor-wise, but it wasn’t a bad snack with coffee.

Yeah! Through that record store day link below, I found the website of my old hometown record store… it’s still open. HOT POOP RECORDS in Walla Walla… and Jim McGuinn is STILL there! Nice. I have so much prog rock that I bought used at Hot Poop in the late 70s. I would look for “synthesizers” in the list of instruments on a record. If it had ‘em, I’d buy the album. I still like prog rock.

Somehow we need to create mesh networks that avoid using the big telcos and cable companies for our “internet”… is that possible?
